Makkar IELTS Graphs

Makkar IELTS  Writing Task 1 of the IELTS Academic test requires you to write a summary of at least 150 words in response to a particular graph (bar, line or pie graph), table, chart, or process (how something works, how something is done). This task tests your ability to select and report the main features, to describe and compare data, identify significance and trends in factual information, or describe a process.

How to write a graph?

To write a graph you have to write the following:

Introduction:

You need only one or two sentences describing the following:

The type of graph you are describing with the title of the graph, the date of the graph, and the scale.  You need not have all this information but you should report what you have.

Body:

What you need to do is to describe the graph factually. No specialized knowledge of your own is needed nor is your opinion. You don’t need to analyze the data. For example, you need not Sive the reason for why figures are high or low. Sometimes when there is more than one graph, there is a relationship between the two, and you can bring in some comparison between them but going beyond this is not necessary.

Ending:

You need not write a long and analytical conclusion. The introduction and the ending should be more or less the same.
